| 520 | _aNew methods of aerial surveying the UK motorway and trunk road network are to be introduced by the Highways Agency, which will improve services to road users by cutting the time taken to carry out work as well as increasing safety for surveyors. LiDAR (light detection and ranging) surveying combines global positioning systems, inertial systems and lasers, allowing computer analysis of vast amounts of data at low cost.
