| 520 | _aDefines acceleration costs as the costs incurred by a contractor in mitigating a delaying event or the costs incurred in completing the works earlier than the contract completion date. Explains acceleration costs can take the form o: f increased men-hours; increased material and equipment; and the expense of employing different working methods. Looks at each of these in turn and the reasons for acceleration, using cases as support. Concludes not all costs incurred by the contractor are recoverable as accelerated costs, as some actions by the contractor will clearly give rise to additional costs in completing the project, while others may only amount to administrative costs. They are very difficult to plead and claim as they are generally linked with a loss of efficiency which can be hard to quantify. | ||
