520 _aThe rise in the price of steel is set to lead to a 2% increase in the cost of construction projects by the end of 2004, according to data from the British Constructional Steelwork Association. The Association said the catalyst for the increase in the price of the steel was sharply rising demand in China. However the Association believes that the price hike is unlikely to be sustained. Demand had momentarily outstripped supply but plans are in place to increase the amount of iron ore being mined.
