520 _aDiscusses the benefits of e-tagging in the construction industry. Radio Frequency Identification means a small electronic tag is embedded into a component or pallet, which can communicate with a reader. The reader can then identify where a component is and its status. The system can be used to track installation, prevent dispute resolution, asset management, maintenance of building services systems and deconstruction of buildings. Four case studies are given as examples of use and a table outlines the benefits of the technology and its applications. Further information on the developmental projects can be obtained from t +44 (0)1923 664448 or [email protected].
