520 _aLooks at strict new rules to be introduced by the HSE, aimed at reducing the high rate of fatal accidents in the construction industry. The HSE is targeting three main areas, including falls from height and employee transportation. Larger fines are proposed for offences and a new offence of corporate killing is to be introduced. Recommends that directors and managers become more proactive and ensure all risk assessments, method statements etc., are prepared, implemented and updated, to help reduce the number of workplace deaths and injuries. These measures will eventually save time and money and protect business reputation. The European Agency for Health and Safety at Work (EASHW) is also proposing to concentrate on the construction industry. More information on the EASHW is available from http://europe.osha.eu.int/.
