490 _aConstruction Law Bulletin
_v May 2004, 5-8(4)
520 _aLooks at the proposed review of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996. The consultation paper is due to be published in October 2004, with responses in by December 2004. Detailed mechanisms for implementation will then be prepared and handed over to the government for application by the end of March 2005. The review will look: at the meaning of the term construction contract; the meaning of construction operations; the application to residential occupiersagreement in writing; meaning of dispute; the mandatory scheme; and fees and costs. In contrast to the adjudication part of the review, the consultation on payment will look at pay when paid arrangements and payment notices. Concludes the review will not be a fundamental one, but more likely a fine tuning of the Act and the Scheme for Construction Contracts in certain areas to improve its effectiveness.
