520 _aAs part of its Healthy Hospital campaign the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment commissioned consultancy PricewaterhouseCoopers to seek nurses' views on the design and layout of hospitals. Results show that 86% of directors of nursing believe that good design and layout are important for recruiting well qualified nursing staff. Welldesigned public spaces, landscaped outdoor areas, attention to fixture and fittings aimed at reducing risk of spread of infection are important design features.
