_v31 Augst 2004 (3)
520 _aDespite expectations of a pick-up after July's slowdown, the latest quarterly CBI "Distributive trades survey" shows that August 2004 was slow too. Retailers cite successive interest rate rises and August's unpredictable weather as factors. Some 32% of firms said that sales were down during the month. Not surprisingly clothing sales were flat and durable goods, such as TVs and fridges also experienced a slowdown. http://www.cbi.org.uk/ndbs/press.nsf/0363c1f07c6ca 12a8025671c00381cc7/4f9498ed4c9575ad80256efb0052a5 d3?OpenDocument
