Many are seeing electronic communication as the answer to the problem of spiralling costs in the DR process. Gives details of the different types of ODR providers. These include Intersettle.co.uk which is a Scotish ODR Provider which uses an interactive online bidding system. Also looks at services offered in the USA where the traditional services of mediation, arbitration, negotiation and expert evaluation are more often done in the online context. Argues it is difficult to say how popular ODR will become. There are advantages such as streamlining of the service and the reduction in costs, but there may be greater difficulties than in the traditional methods for DR for recovering a case if it is badly pled as there is no real word in online procedure.
