520 _aOne and a quarter million households will be offered free smoke alarms and fire safety advice in a £25m fire prevention package announced by the fire safety minister. The households will generally be in deprived areas. Recipients are mainly expected to live in owner-occupier properties or those renting in the private sector, as social housing tenants usually have fire safety measures in place. Scheme aims to support provisions in the Housing Bill 2003. http://www.odpm.gov.uk/pns/displaypn.cgi?pn_id=200 4_0252
