_aOffice for National Statistics News Release _v30 November 2004 (6) |
||
| 520 | _aTwo sets of statistics relating to farming have recently been released by DEFRA and the Office for National Statistics. The two sets should not be compared against each other but are related to each other. "Total income from farming in the UK in 2004" shows that income is forecast to be close to the level recorded in 2003. "Net farm income and cash income by types of farm in England" can be used to compare between different types of farms and covers the 12 month period from March 2003 to February 2004. One result that it shows is that despite lower yields in 2003/04, cereal farms benefitted from higher commodity prices as a result of tighter supplies on both the World and European markets.
