520 _aAnalysis of the findings of "Bryen and Langley Ltd v Martin Rodney Boston" ([2004] EWHC 2450 (TCC), Abs 68430). This was related to whether JCT building contracts apply if work is being done on behalf of a consumer and not on a commercial level. The judge in this case accepted that no such contract applied and this voided an adjudicator's decision that money was owed for a flat conversion that went a long way over the anticipated contract sum. Notes that a consumer can be regarded as someone contracting outside his trade, business or profession.
