According to the English Housing Survey Headline Report 2017- 2018, 897,000 homes in England had problems with damp with almost 450,000 affected by condensation and mould. The Housing Health and Safety Rating Scheme (HHSRS) lists 29 major hazards relating to mould and damp. The Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018 gives tenants powers to bring action against landlords where a property is deemed unfit for human habitation.
