520 _aThe January 2024 RICS UK Residential Survey results show another slight improvement across all sales market activity indicators. Moreover, sentiment regarding the outlook for sales volumes over the coming twelve months has turned increasingly positive, supported by expectation that interest rates will ease back to a certain degree as the year progresses. At the national level, the new buyer enquiries series posted a net balance reading of +7% in January, up from a figure of -3% previously. As such, this is now consistent with a gradual recovery coming through for buyer demand. Although still relatively modest in a longer term context, the latest reading is in fact the most positive since February 2022.
