520			_aLandowners, prospective purchasers, developers and land promoters enter into agreements for the right to promote, option to purchase or develop land well in advance of planning permission being granted. Surveyors provide extensive advice on these agreements which are extremely complex and have significant implications for the price at which land is traded. The purpose is to ensure surveyors are providing the best and most up to date advice when advising clients on agreement types available to either the landowner, purchaser or promoter in an area of practice which is opaque and steadily evolving. This document will be applicable to many types of development, residential or commercial, large or small. However, very major developments or those involving a wide variety of property types – for example, town centre redevelopments and regeneration schemes – may require different and often more complex forms of agreement. Consultation opened 14 March 2024 closes 12 April 2024.
