520			_aA Scottish Government consultation seting out proposals for crofting reform with the purpose to ensure that legislation facilitates and supports the sustainability of crofting, of crofters and crofting communities, and allows crofting to modernise, adapt and innovate. The proposals include: a legislative change so that future assignations of croft tenancies could be to two people in a joint tenancy thereby making crofts more affordable; removing or reducing regulatory barriers that limit the ability of an owner-occupier to grant a standard security over their croft; revised powers for the Crofting Commission to resolve crofting regulatory issues more quickly; and enabling more and different activity to be undertaken on common grazings, including peatland restoration and other environmental initiatives.
