245 _aBrown v Ridley and Another
_b[2025] UKSC 7
260 _bThe Supreme Court,
_c26 February 2025
520 _aSupreme Court judgment 26 February 2025. Allowed the appeal from the Upper Tribunal [2024] UKUT 14 (LC). Issue: What is the period of ten years in which an applicant for registration as the owner of land over on the basis of adverse possession must hold the reasonable belief that they were the owner of that land under paragraph 5(4)(c) of Schedule 6 of the Land Registration Act 2002? An adverse possession claim based on the squatter's reasonable mistake as to boundaries under the Land Registration Act 2002, the requirement for ten years of reasonable belief of ownership could be any period of ten years; it did not have to be the ten years ending on the date of the application.
