_v43(6) December/January 1989, 8
520 _aPlanning permission has recently been granted by the Secretary of State for the Environment for development of a new village on green belt land. Originally a large mental hospital was housed on the site and in this article the author describes how community-based planning was used to develop a large redundant hospital and out buildings and at the same time increase the supply of housebuilding land and provide low cost housing for local communities.
