520 _aReports on the results of the English House Condition Survey carried out by the DoE in 1986. For the purposes ofthe survey repair was defined as referring to faults which were a threat to the occupant`s health, safety , security and comfort and any other defects which, if not, remedied quickly, would rapidly become more expensive to rectify. Using this yardstick the evidence showed that 12.9% of the total stock was in a poor state of repair. Concludes that given the current economic climate it is difficult to envisage how the backlog of residential repairs can be reduced. (The report is available on loan from the Library.
