In 1982 fire destroyed the ceiling and roof of the public hall and it was decided to grasp this opportunity to provide a multi-function social building. The article covers evaluation of the tenders,problems on site and particular complications involved in the work. After nearly two years the building was officially re-opened on 16 July 1986,its 117th anniversary.
