520 _aWestminster CC`s review of its unitary development plan initiated in response to allegations of gerrymandering and political malpractice, the `homes for votes` policies, has brought into focus the role politics can play in the planning process. This article explores some of the planning issues which can be effected by political considerations, giving the example of food retail development policy in Brentwood which was reversed by a change of council.
