A floating restaurant fixed to the bed of the river Thames and connected by chains and walkways to the riverbank was held not rateable because it was fixed to, and formed a unit of occupation with the river bed, which, by virtue of the Port of London Act 1968 s178(1) was not rateable, and because it was not possible for the restaurant to occupy part of the river wall as well as the river bed.
