520 _aQBD 7 August 1990. Claim by purchasers of a house (B) for damages against a surveyor employed by Nationwide Anglia Building Society , alleging negligence in the valuation of the property. B stated that it had been over valued. N`s defence was that it had given B a written notice in the form prescribed by Building Societies Act 1962 s30 stating that the fact it was advancing money for the purchase of the property did not imply a warranty that the purchase price was reasonable. QBD held that such a notice did not have any effect upon the liability of the building society for a negligent valuation of the property carried out by their staff surveyor .
