520 _aRenewable fuels are discussed in this article with attention given to new techniques in boiler manufacture allowing the adaptation of current plant to burn both coal and waste , and to the obligation under taken by the recently privatised electricity companies to use renewable energy sources. In the latter case, biofuels are emphasised with methane , dry waste and energy crops listed as the main options.
