Though certain benefits will accrue from increased pollution control , the administrative costs of compliance with the Act will be severe. Following a brief reminder of existing legislation, the article summarizes Part 1 of the new Act, comments on the transfer of much of the minerals industry to local authority control and ends with a precis of forthcoming guidance notes.
