520 _aLetter written by Carolyn Slater, Director of the RICS in Scotland to the Law Society of Scotland. The RICS is concerned about the choice of valuer for the prospective purchaser. According to the RICS, panels of valuers are being reduced drastically by lenders. There is concern that purchasers, by being obliged to instruct the lender`s choice of valuer, might be discouraged from seeking the better protection afforded to him or her by a house or flat buyer`s report or a building survey as opposed to merely a mortgage valuation inspection. (Journal Abstract).
