S, owners of a listed building, had been refused permission to demolish certain features but had been granted compensation under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 s27. The compensating authority (W) appealed and it was held that the LT had erred in distinguishing between demolition and alteration (see Abs50629).
