| 520 | _aThe BRE has recently completed an investigation into escape route lighting provided to enable occupants to evacuate a building quickly and safely when the normal power supply fails. They conducted an experimental study under three different uniform illumination conditions including one approximating to the British Standard recommending a minimum of 0.2 lux on the centre line of the floor of the escape route; results showed that for smoke free conditions the criteria of BS 5266 is reasonable for corridors but higher illuminance is needed for staircases. | ||
