| 520 | _aLT 30 May 1997. The claimants (B) sought compensation under Land Compensation Act 1973 pt 1 following construction of a sewage outlet adjacent to their dwelling. B gave evidence of smell during maintenance and inspection of the sewer outlet. There was also a smell from the outlet after rainfall. B felt inhibited in inviting guests to their home and in the use of the garden because of the odour. B believed that the value of their property was reduced by 7.5 per cent by the sewer outlet. The water company did not think that B would be capable of knowing whether any smell came from the sewer outlet or the sewage works lying to the south of the property.
