520 _a"Sansom and another v Metcalf Hambleton & Co" CA 17 December 1997. S and M the owners instructed surveyors (H) to survey property built on steep slope. A retaining wall supported vertical cliff after excavation of car parking space. Steps led to a `wing` wall, which was not part of the retaining wall. A crack appeared in the `wing` wall. S claimed for diminution in value against H. Expert evidence from structural engineer. H`s appeal, that the judge erred in relying on the evidence of a structural engineer as to what a reasonably skilled chartered surveyor should have done, allowed.
