Pursuiant to the Leasehold Reform Housing and Urban Development Act 1993, the respondent tenants served a notice of collective enfranchisement to acquire the freehold to a building containing two maisonettes for the sum of £3,000. The tenants each held leases with some 73 years left on the valuation date. The appellant landlord sought £15,000. Referred to LVT which determined the sum payable as £3,800 based on the value of two 999 year leases of the maisonettes of £109,000 and an uplift of £6,000. The landlord appealed contending for an uplift of £30,000 and a yield of 7 per cent. The appeal was dismissed.
