520 _aThe RICS Farmland Price Survey, issued on 14 May 1999, says that demand for farmland has continued to fall in the first quarter of 1999. Since 1997 the price of farmland in Great Britain has fallen by nearly a fifth. It predicts that prices will continue to fall, but less rapidly than was predicted in 1998. In Scotland there is less land coming onto the market than a year ago leading to low transaction levels, but some increase is expected over the next twelve months which could lead to a drop in value. However a report for Aberdeen & Northern found that north-east Scotland prices have recovered remarkably from a low six months ago.
