520 _aIn order to combat the growing popularity of online shopping, Bluewater shopping centre managers are considering charging shoppers a £2 entry fee which could generate £69m annually and allow them to stop charging rent to retailers. Retailers would then have resources to spend on making their shops more appealing, and savings could be passed on in terms of lower prices. The entrance fee idea has attracted interest from other large shopping centres.
