520 _aThis article draws on research by Sheffield Hallam University which investigated organisational learning across the chartered surveying profession in the UK. Barriers identified include: 'unwritten rules' within the profession, learning as a cost factor rather than an investment and individuals prior experiences of learning. The authors argue that these barriers need to be worked through rather than ignored if each organisation is to progress with its learning strategies.
