520 _aDescribes one possible solution to the provision of new housing without threatening the Green Belt inspired by constructions in the Far East and North America. These are high-rise, multi-use towers incorporation office space and shopping malls with residential space. As well as looking at these type of developments overseas, the article also looks briefly at the mixed-use towers planned in London, including Roger Lewis' and Renzo Piano's. Concludes that such multi-use towers will become the way forward for redevelopment of brownfield sites as Britain approaches the same problems of space as Asia.
