Having been in the control of the dioceses for many centuries, concern has been raised over some of the works carried out; the latest in a series of overhauls and changes to the system are the "Faculty Jurisdiction Rules 2000". Looks at the changes made in these rules to the procedure followed by the dioceses and considers that the diocesan advisory committee will have as much, if not more, experience of ancient buildings than the local planning authority should jurisdiction be passed to the local authorities. Indeed the article does consider that with the amount of other expertise available to the dioceses, it would not be practical to pass jurisdiction to the local authorites.
