520 _aFocuses on the challenges associated with the social and economic regeneration of Poplar following the decline of docks and river-related industries in East London. £230m is being invested in the area and its housing stock whilst estate boards and community development teams for each neighbourhood are amongst the new management structures introduced. The development teams are made up from members of the boards, which include representatives from the community as well as a director, and help residents to learn new skills and participate within the community. This is facilitated by community development plans. Also considers the role played by Leaside Regeneration, an SRB partnership, in promoting new local business which could service the major new developments nearby.
