520 _aA new report commissioned by the RICS has shown that 40% of international and UK corporate occupiers find the leases system unsatisfactory and that this weakens the competitiveness of the UK as a business location. The primary concern is the length of lease followed by break clauses, assignment and sub-letting, repairs and insurance, and rent reviews with many occupiers feeling that shorter leases would help address these concerns. The report, "Lease Structures, Terms and Lengths", is available on the RICS website at http://www.rics.org.uk.
