_vFebruary 2001, 1(1)
520 _aThe European Commission has proposed a mechanism to ensure that Member States recognise one another's regulations and practices rather than impose their own, a move which should allow Chartered Surveyors to overcome many of the barriers that currently limit their ability to practice in Europe. The proposals call for the identification of these obstacles during 2001, with a timetable for them to be dismantled to be announced in 2002. The Commission will then introduce non-legislative measures including codes of conduct and proposed harmonised rules where necessary. A task force of leading business figures will also present solutions to the problems faced by mobile personnel by 2005.
