520 _aThe general public is largely unaware of the work carried out by Quantity Surveyors (QSs). Describes three valuable roles played by the quantity surveyor in the legal arena - in the world of disputes. Firstly, considers how QSs' work with lawyers as expert witnesses before judges or arbitrators. Secondly, looks at the assistance they provide to lawyers in the preparation of claims. Thirdly, considers how QSs have fared in their role as arbitrators and adjudicators. Some commentators suggest the traditional role of the QS will eventually disappear, and they will instead be called management consultants specialising in construction.
