520 _aIn the past engineers had to rely entirely on their own knowledge and judgement and previous experience when predicting the degree of subsidence likely to be caused by mining. The advent of CAD produced much more accurate results. This article describes the development and function of the Carbs Eagle software package, with particular reference to its application for tracking and predicting subsidence.
