520 _aDiscusses the growing popularity of Transport Development Areas (TDAs), which place quality design, high-density developments near good public transport access points in towns and cities. Suggests that by providing financially sound development opportunities and investment in public transport, TDAs could take on a wider regeneration role applicable to rural and urban areas. TDAs should also be achievable without changes to legislation or guidance, as the approach already fits in with government themes of accessibility, sustainability, improved public transport, and brownfield and mixed-use development. Concludes with RICS suggestions on how to implement TDAs. "Transport Development Areas: Guidance on the introduction of the TDA approach into the planning system" is available from the RICS, tel: 020 7222 7000
