520 _aAdvocates the routine use of land condition reports (LCR) for land transactions. Explains the concept of a standardised form of LCR, as endorsed by the Urban Task Force and suggests that its adoption will install confidence in the investor market place; LCRs will provide detailed information on the land use of a site and explain steps needed to return it to a marketable condition. The Institute of Environmental Managers and Assessors (IEMA) has set up training courses for parties involved in issuing the reports, another measure which should promote certainty and security. Briefly looks at the related initiatives of tax relief for cleaning up contaminated land and the creation of a National Land Use Database (NLUD).
