520 _aLooks at the proposals by the Lord Chancellor's Department to introduce electronic conveyancing which will see a transactions completed electronically using secure email between the parties and HM Land Registry. A register of approved electronic signatures is to be set up under the Electronic Communications Act 2000 s1, although this has yet to come into force. It will be a major advance for e-commerce and not just e-conveyancing. The process of applying for an electronic signature will, however, be time consuming and it is therefore proposed that to save time conveyancers sign the relevant documents electronically as the client's agent.
