520 _aFeature on Land Securities' refurbishment of Portman House using Cadweb for electronic document distribution and control in the construction phase. At the start of the project, the team found Cadweb quite slow and hard to use as it could not be accessed via the internet. The system has since been improved and incorporates an in-built audit trail which flags up who should get drawings and subsequent revisions, retrieved records including when they are opened and whether responses are required, and when changes have been made and by whom which is valuable in valuation and claims situations. Concludes that using Cadweb could save money in similar projects if the electronic system completely replaces the traditional paper chase. Includes brief details of other systems available.
