520 _aAims to raise the profile of the problem of structures made of concrete which can be damaged by a form of sulfate attack, termed by the BRE, as the thaumasite form of sulfate attack (TSA). Identifies the problems of TSA in building foundations, floor slabs and highway structures. Includes a case study of the 30-year old Tredington-Ashchurch bridge over the M5 in Gloucestershire. To raise international awareness of TSA the BRE is organising the first International Conference on Thaumasite in Cementitious Materials to take place 20-22 June 2002 at BRE headquarters. Contact details given.
