| 520 | _aA "Construction News" survey of more than 300 hirers reveals that plant hire rates vary hugely across the UK. Rates varied by more than £100 a day in some instances. Leicestershire proved the cheapest place to hire a mini, with a day rate of only £30 quoted, while the most expensive was Hertfordshire, where the rate jumped to £130 - four times the lowest and almost twice the national average. Construction plant-hire Association spokesman John Varcoe, said, "Regional differences have always been an issue, but even if we wanted to, we couldn't provide guidance or we would fall foul of EU cartel rules" | ||
