520 _aLondon housebuilders have called for a 25% cap on social housing quotas as a response to a proposed increase in affordable housing targets. Article presents both sides of the argument on affordable housing targets. Developers claim that the 50% target is unachievable, will negatively affect land values and are concerned that affordable housing costs will be offloaded onto the private sector. However, a GLA commissioned study into the financial viability of the 50% target in London boroughs found that increasing public subsidy would make the target achievable in two-thirds of the boroughs.
