_v(140) 31 October 2001, (2)
520 _aIn its submission to the Policy Commission on the Future of Farming and Food, RICS warns that the agricultural industry will struggle to attract the new capital it needs to ensure long-term stability and strength. It looks at the difficulties of attracting new capital to the industy, as well as some of the broader issues that affect the rural economy and communities. Among the key issues it highlights are: that huge amounts of capital are already tied into the industry; there is likely to be a switch from price support to support for environmental land management; the ability to borrow depends crucially on the underlying value of farming assets.
