520 _aThe first meeting of the Safety of Tall Buildings Working Group, a group of 16 world renowned engineers, has taken place in London. Formed in response to the collapse of the two World Trade Centre towers in New York on 11 September 2001, the group is charged with producing a set of design guidelines that will allay fears over the safety of tall buildings. It will address three main areas of concern: fire resistance of structures, methods of escape, and the limitation of progressive structural collapse.
